So, ah, then why are you on a dating website?

I’ll save you the trouble of having to read the whole profile, or maybe you should and you can tell me if I’m missing anything, but my god it’s so freaking long. The first paragraph is really all that matters. You found a girl that you love, which I believe is the whole point of dating. You hate this website. So why remain on a site you hate, where the intention is to find love, if you’ve already found love? And your profile says you reply often. Maybe he’s responding to bitches like me. Yes, readers, I sent him an email asking the above question. Why? Because I’m a crazy bitch. I did also ask if he gf knows he’s still on a dating site. Poor girl, she looks normal.

My self-summary

Psst… This site is a joke. I’m glad I found someone I love dearly elsewhere, because no one here seems worth the time. I’m one of the only genuine guys on here, and I’m not even trying to show you my penis or have sex with you! Just good conversation and companionship… and nothing in the years I’ve been here. What a joke. Anyway, feel free to read on, I couldn’t care less. 😉
Simply put, I’m a nice guy, looking for a decent, intelligent, relatively sane girl (or woman if you prefer), preferably with good taste in music.

I just hope to find one person who I can connect with intellectually, who I have much in common with… is that so weird to the point of being a deal breaker? If so, move on.

While I’m a bit of a dreamer (Myers-Briggs says I’m an INFP), I’m also generally independent and responsible.

Overall, I’m just a guy who knows roughly what he wants from a relationship, treats women like human beings, and refuses to settle for less… come what may.

What I’m doing with my life

I recently transferred to Northern Kentucky University in Fall 2009, and thus know practically no one in the immediate area (outside of the few friends I already had in the general region), so I am hoping this now serves the purpose of helping me to find interesting people to talk to and befriend in the area.

I’ve worked in a variety of fields, ranging from our family’s car business (Oldsmobile, when such a company existed), working with the mentally impaired, eventually ending up doing technical support for computers/PDA’s/etc. I think and write quite often. I’m also trying to learn guitar and music theory in general, but it’s more of a hobby at this point… and I rarely have the time to devote to such endeavors.

I also wish there was someplace to sing other than church, since I’m neither a fan of the music or its message. If I had the money to devote to it, I would buy some inexpensive recording equipment just for fun.

So what am I doing with my life as a whole? Up until now, I would say putting people first, that would probably be the easiest way to summarize. In the past I almost always put others first, and while this isn’t a bad thing, I’ve decided its both healthy and necessary to do what is right for me as well… which I suppose is why I went back to college.

I’m really good at

Due to my nature of wanting to learn everything about everything, I rarely get REALLY good at any one thing, yet at the same time I’m usually average or better at that which I put any fair amount of effort into. Just a short list of things others have mentioned that I am good at: Photography, Singing, Computers and Technology, Writing, and others seem to appreciate my sense of humor, dark/sarcastic as it sometimes is.
The first things people usually notice about me

I’m Tall. I’m pretty sure that’s what 99.99% of people notice first about me…
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

My favorite author, above all, is Kurt Vonnegut, followed by Jack Kerouac, Arthur C. Clarke, Aldous Huxley, Tom Robbins, etc, etc. I’m primarily interested in non-fiction these days, particularly Neil Postman as of late.

Favorite music? I could waste this entire paragraph on just my favorite albums alone, but my taste is undoubtedly eclectic. I can’t deny that Pink Floyd was and still is to a degree one of my favorite bands, as is Simon & Garfunkel, although I don’t listen to them as much now (in some ways, the personal history attached alone is too painful).
Here is just a short list of what I listen to regularly (straight from my iPhone):
RHCP, Blind Melon, The Beatles, Ben Folds (Five), The Shins, Cake, Gorillaz, Iron and Wine, Neil Young/CSNY, STP, Of Montreal, Weezer, Beck, Nick Drake,REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Modest Mouse, The Black Keys, Stardeath & White Dwarfs, even Jack Johnson (say what you will), and last, but certainly not least, Radiohead, which may very well be my favorite band to have come along during my lifetime.

As for movies, I enjoy Kubrick films (Dr. Strangelove being my favorite) as well as Tarantino films, and I’ll also admit to loving almost every Kevin Smith movie ever made… almost. Then there are the Mel Brooks movies, Monty Python (Blasphemy perhaps, but I prefer Meaning of Life over Holy Grail, yet love both). Just a short list of the greatest films of all time: The Graduate, The Ninth Configuration, Fight Club, and one of my very favorites, American Beauty, which, along with Shawshank Redemption, are two of the best movies of my generation. Throw in a few documentaries here and there… and you have a decent cross section of my movie tastes.

The six things I could never do without

The love of my family and good friends
My ability to think and reason
The outdoors
I spend a lot of time thinking about

The welfare of friends, family, and people in general
Traveling abroad
Philosophy, Sociology, Politics… Information systems and how they may be able to change the world, potentially for the better.
World events
Wondering if love is dead in modern society/Wondering if I need to move elsewhere to find someone.
On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends or on a date, Reading or writing, Listening to music live, watching a movie, etc…
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I’m a closet romantic, a known cuddler, and believe in tenderness in general. I’m a teddy bear (but not a furry, lol). I also love kids… most of the time.

I love the rain, the sound of it, really everything about it, I’ve even been known to walk barefoot on wet grass just for the fun of it.
I take pictures of the sky often, among other beautiful natural scenery I happen upon. I guess I still have a hippie streak (I used to have long hair as well).

Also, pickles are the devil… they are in fact my Kryptonite.

Finally (and perhaps most embarrassing)… I watch Glee… and enjoy it.

I’m looking for

  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, activity partners
You should message me if

If you are realistic, reasonable, like to read and discuss important matters, aren’t high maintenance, and like good music, then by all means message me. Like to sing along? even better. Like to travel, or at least take road trips? I love you. (too soon? heh). Yes, I am looking for a partner to share my life with, and I’m not afraid to admit it, but I am also looking for friends here too. So, even if you’re just looking for new friends, feel free to still message me… roughly half my friends are women anyway. No matter how things turn out, I always prefer being friends first, whether or not it went any further, because you can’t have a serious relationship without being good, if not best, friends (something I feel people today all too often fail to realize).

If nothing else, if you can offer some constructive criticism as to why I’m virtually ignored on here… that might also be helpful. 😉 My lack of faith in this, and perhaps humanity in general, means I don’t expect much to come from this… but I would certainly love to be proven wrong.

Also, I’ve found that I’m a sucker for dimples.
